Vital key to cross culture management:

Vital key to cross culture management:

Our world today is a world in which people from different nations and cultures are getting closer and closer because of economical and political reasons. Because cultures are becoming closer, communication is the most important quality for anyone to work on if they want to work in the cross culture organizations.

Some vital keys responsible for essential cross culture management are described as follows:

Capacity To Accept The Relativity Of Your Own Knowledge And
Perception:

Most of the people tend to judge others based on their own cultures, simply recognizing that these are bond to be different from other cultures is a vital step towards effective cross culture management.

Capacity To Be Non-Judgmental: Keeping personal judgments among ourselves helps in better cross culture management.

Tolerance towards ambiguity: accepting the fact that one will never be able to understand other culture fully. Despite that one can appreciate the fact and function satisfactorily helps improve cross culture management.

Respect for other people ways, their country, and their values without adopting or internalizing them.

If management clearly understands what motivates the employees from different culture will be crucial for the success. Technical competency is important but so is understanding of the culture, norms and beliefs of others.

Listening Breakdown In Business Meeting

What Happens When Listening Breaks Down In An Important Business Meeting?

Listening is a very important and vital factor in the cycle of communication in order to give the right feedback. This enhances the successful completion of communication cycle. Leading for decision in the right direction and taking proper actions towards organizations goals.
Example of listening breakdown mentioned in James s O Rourke text book is one of the most appropriate examples.” Poor listening can cause disaster, as it did in the 1977 runway collision at Tenerife airport in Canary Island, when misunderstood instructions caused 583 deaths”.

As we all know business meetings plays an aggressive role for companies’ growth.
This is the place where all the important decision is made regarding present and future growth of the company. Listening breakdown during these important meetings can lead to various problems some of them are mentioned as follows.

1) Gives A Feeling Of Non Acceptance To The Speaker: In brief if the communication from the speaker is not welcome by the receiver, he has feeling of non-acceptance which will avoid him to communicate his ideas and goals.
2) It Demotes Problem Solving Abilities: When the management has listening breakdown they cannot give proper solutions to the problems arising during the operation neither guide them to come up with any solutions.
3) Listening Breakdown Reduces The Receptiveness To The Thoughts And Ideas Of Others: Best ideas don’t always come from you it can be from anybody seating in the business meeting but if the speaker has no receptiveness towards thoughts and ideas of others it limits the probability of getting successful resolution.
4) It Decreases The Self Esteem Of The People: We can explain this by taking sales executives; they hear “NO” so often that they tend to accept failure as inevitable part of the job. It could be really frustrating if there is no manger to listen to them.
5) It Increases Self Consciousness And Self Centeredness: Due to the listening breakdown it shuts up the ideas and opinions from junior subordinates leading to condensed and very few ideas. This reduces the horizon of any company to explore.
6) It Increases Head On Emotional Problems: If you concentrate on your own needs to the exclusion of other peoples need you will see that they return the favor. Simultaneously they will focus on their own interests and not yours. This will lead to an argument with no productive outcome.
7) Yielding To Internal And External Distractions: Due to listening breakdown the meeting will have favored internal and external disturbances.

These are the some of the results for listening breakdowns in business meeting , aftermaths of this could be leading to disaster as the perfect solution or focused direction have not been achieved from the meeting. It’s very critical to practice active listening habits in any organizational meetings.

Importance Of Ethincs in Business

IMPORTANCE OF ETHICS IN BUSINESS…

There are many definitions of ethics, but, according to author Herbert Johnston, ethics is concerned with two things: human conduct and what ought to be done. It also involves people’s perceptions about what “should” be done. People have duties to do what is right and to not hurt other people. More or less, ethics involve obligations.
Johnston also defines ethics as “a practical, philosophical science by which we may reach conclusions concerning the rightness or wrongness of voluntary acts as related to our last end”

After the definition what’s important in any business is being ethical. Business ethics are becoming very important in today’s economy. In fact if you look more into detail, ethics can make or break a company. There is an old saying old saying: “cheaters never win.” If someone runs a business with honesty and integrity it will not only put you ahead in life, it will also move your organization forward to great success. Even Customers will recognize that they are being treated fairly and continue to return to a company that provides good, ethical services. People do not want to deal with someone whom they think are legitimate. Majority of people appreciate an honest, hardworking company with great ethics or mission statement hanging on the wall in the office. Today more and more companies are investing time and money into learning more about ethical business and an increasing number are attending workshops
.
On searching on to the internet I also found out about a survey conducted by Ray Baumhart’s - on 1,031 businessmen, the most influential incentive for being ethical was a man’s personal code of behavior. Most people are ethical because of what they believe to be right. Most people want to take the credit for doing the right thing when they will be recognized or even rewarded. The true test is seeing what people do when no one is looking. The following list are the other top 5 choices in descending order of importance to the surveyed businessmen: 2. formal company policy, 3. the behavior of a man’s superiors, 4. the ethical climate of the industry, and 5. the behavior of a man’s equals in the company.

One can very well determine that ethics in business are like a backbone. Its always advisable for any new business in stage of planning for operation should have greatly examined their ethical holdings ,as that’s how they can outcome with the objective of getting new customers and gaining there loyalty.
Recently I have read the article about Travelocity – Michelle Peluso and how did she turned a company from 55 million dollar loss to 13 million dolor profit in a spam of one yes its recommended to the readers of this blog to definitely go through the article.

Exploration This Week

What I m up to for this week:

It’s very important to write down things which you are planning even your goals as it gives a psychological effect of getting things done. And once you receive these goals and plans your written assessment gives you feeling of accomplishment try this out it really feels great.

The year 2006 is coming to an end and I thank god for giving me healthy and happy life.
I m looking forward to travel and visit my parents this Christmas it will be almost and year an a half since I have seen them so I m just pretty excited about it.
With this impatient feeling of the time to come soon I have lot of things to catch in both school and work as I want to be out of stress during my holidays.
This particular week I m working on finishing up my research proposal for communication management and I will be spending most of the time researching for its resources and coming out with a draft paper by Wednesday next week.
The idea behind my research is – MAC-DONALDS and its operation worldwide and its effective communication and management strategies. This is my first time writing something like this so it’s kind of bit challenging for me, but I do have a have a confident still I will do my best.
Your views and help are welcome on this issue.
Another thing on my list after this is reorganizing pending work in the company in order to hand over the operations to the concerned person during my absence and that’s taking a lot of my time.During some free time of the day I want to explore more into my trip of where all I will be visiting, in which Madagascar and South Africa on top priority so I will be planning for my dates and places to visit in these countries

PMAI - Concepts Of Archetypes

Concepts of PMAI ARCHETYPE:

As per my understanding PMAI archetype are based on the theories of C.G Jung

To understand archetypes I want you to go through the definition given by C.G. JUNG-

In Jung's terms - 'Archetype' is defined as the first original model of which all other similar persons, objects, or concepts are merely derivative, copied, patterned, or emulated. These patterns derive from a universal collective unconscious which in metaphysics is called the Grids - Akashic Records - Sea of Consciousness - that which creates our reality in this context, archetypes are innate prototypes for ideas, which may subsequently become involved in the interpretation of observed phenomena.

For further knowledge I will recommend visiting: http://www.crystalinks.com/archetypes.html

PMAI module helps each individual to recognize their highest and lowest archetypes and make an assessment for themselves, its can be done at the value of $15. its my personal opinion one should surely go for the evaluation as its gives you the sense of direction about what you really are and you should be proud of that and something’s in life which you are falling back and what improvements can be made to enhance your lowest categories.
each category have its own characteristics.
I will help you readers to know how it works out By posting my personal PMAI SCORE .

CARE GIVER – 29
SAGE – 27
MAGICIAN – 27
LOVER – 27
SEEKER – 27
DESTROYER – 25
RULER – 23
ORPHAN – 23
JESTER – 22
CREATOR – 19
INNOCENT – 18
WARRIOR – 14

HIGHEST SCORE: CARE GIVER
LOWEST SCORE: WARRIOR

In my case it’s almost true and it puts me in a position where I can think about what I m good at and what things I need to improve in life, we can relate this by taking my work example or relationships with the boss. For example if my boss is a care giver too don’t you think that people with same understandings will tend to perform well?
It’s a famous saying no-one is perfect but steps can be taken to improve yourself for better.

It’s a simple example which can help you understand about your own self being and I recommend everyone to go for this assessment test for self improvement.

During my assessment of archetypes I can say that care giver personality was dominant and it came out to be dominant. And speaking about business this archetype doesn’t works alone as it’s the combination which makes it work your way being in a management position and having an characteristics of caregiver is very important as employee and customers can relate to your gentle and humble attitude and feel at ease to discuss their concerns. But at the same time following just the care giving attitude is not healthy as well so it has to be combined with other characteristics like warrior as sometimes in business world you have to face the challenges all the time.
In my opinion the best workplace suitable for this kind of candidate will be in some humanitarian work, art departments, natural history, tourism industry, education etc where he is able to see more of world etc. e.g.- Mother Teresa
The workplace which will be hard for this archetype being the care giver will be defense services, politics, newspapers and magazines, gambling joints etc.
Please note: all these examples are based on my personal assumption it can vary from individual to individual based on their combination of archetypes.

10 important things in life - to enhance your personal and professional life

Hope - "I've always believed the future is in God's hands." Everyone has problems. How we respond, on good days and on bad, determines how well we live our lives.
Persistence - "Persistence is the single most important ingredient of success in life." It has to do with hard work, commitment, and, especially in times of adversity, sheer willpower. Persistence has a purpose and clear focal point.

Confidence - "Confidence is both a choice and a gift." We grow our confidence by taking risks and overcoming them. This does not imply success each time we take a risk or do something new. It does imply that we learn each time we do.

Optimism - "An optimistic attitude is not a luxury; it's a necessity." It fundamentally shapes our feelings, our performance, and our relationships. It channels our energies along productive paths.

Respect - "Every person is a human being created in the image of God with a purpose and place in life." We affirm and empower people by showing them respect. My own father taught me there is dignity in all work and respect is due to those who perform it.

Accountability - "Accountability is the glue that holds society together." We are responsible for what we do. We can freely choose, though the potential choices vary for each of us. In like manner, we must honestly accept accountability to ourselves and to others for our choices and their outcomes.

Family - "The home is where love and responsibility are learned and where values are transmitted from one generation to the next." We each have an obligation to nurture growth in our spouses and children, for the health of our families largely dictate the health of the other institutions in our society.

Freedom - "Free people in a free society can choose good, or they can choose evil." Where freedom is strongest, so too is economic well-being, culture, civil society, and personal opportunity.

Faith - "Without faith in a personal, creator God, the universe is a meaningless place, nothing in life has direction, and moral principles are impossible." Faith is not just a belief system, but a basis for our actions and feelings, most poignantly when we face seemingly insurmountable difficulties. "Faith is beyond reason: it fills the gap when you don't know what to do or what's going to happen."

Grace - "God's grace gives hope in the most hopeless situations." This is the most deeply personal of the lessons.

TOP TEN STEPS TO BECOME A MILLIONER

The Top 10 Steps To Becoming A Millionaire
By Dr Philip E. Humbert

There is perhaps no more important decision than to take charge of your own financial future. We live in a world of opportunity, and yet most Americans are buried in credit card and other debt. We are surrounded by people who are getting rich, but most of us are running in place. If you can read this, you are literate, have a computer, you are part of the "wired generation". You can become as financially independent as you wish to be. Here are the Top 10 keys to your financial success:

Decide to be financially successful. This is different than wishing, hoping, wanting or even desiring to be rich. Make a commitment that this is going to happen! Financial independence is not an accident or matter of luck, and it usually requires some inconvenience. Have you decided to achieve this goal?

Understand how money works. Most of never studied finance or investing in school. Most of were never even taught to balance a checkbook! To master anything, you have to understand it. Read. Study what successful people do. Take classes.
Master your relationship with money. Some of us spend for excitement, to show off, to prove we can. Some of us are addicted to spending, and some of us are just careless about it. Whatever your relationship with money, understand it and develop a relationship of respect, appreciation and gratitude. Use your money, rather than allowing it to run your life.
Set specific goals. They should be challenging, but not unbelievable, just out of reach but not out of sight. Challenge yourself to be out of debt by a specific date. Make a commitment to saving an exact amount each month.
Develop a budget. A budget is a set of dreams and aspirations. It's how you really, really want to use money to benefit your family and run your life. Budget to buy the things you really want, and to eliminate the "impulses", the toys that waste too much of our income. A budget is a map to your destination. Have one and use it!
Reduce spending. Yes, this comes after making a budget, because when you begin getting control of your money (rather than the other way around) you have powerful new reasons to reduce expenses. Most self-made millionaires live far below their means! You should to.
Begin investing. Most of us spend or speculate. Both are roads to disaster! Invest in things you understand. Invest cautiously, wisely, and regularly. The objective is not to "make a killing", but to get rich over time. Know and obey the distinction between gambling, and putting your money to work for you.
Increase assets. Most people try to increase their income, and that's a mistake. Making more money means paying more taxes. It takes time and hard work. And, when wealth arrives in the form of cash, it's easier to spend. Millionaires buy stocks and buildings, they invest in assets that will make them rich – and that are hard to spend on a whim!
Reduce taxes. Most Americans pay more in taxes than for food, clothing and shelter combined! It is your largest expense! The poor and middle class don't realize how much they pay because it's deducted from their pay check. The wealthy know there are legal and appropriate ways to shelter income, to invest in socially-responsible ways, and that the tax code encourages this. Learn the tax laws and use them for your benefit! (Yes, it's the most boring reading you'll ever do, and worth it!)
Use your wealth wisely. Someone once said, "The reason most of us aren't rich is that we'd spend it all on ourselves." Give. Share. Help others. When you use money to make a difference, to have a positive impact, you get the chance to do more. Being greedy and selfish will not draw money to you. Investing in your community, will!

To begin your education about money and becoming a millionaire, I highly recommend several books on the subject. Two of the best are: "The Millionaire Next Door" by Thomas Stanley and William Danko, and "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter.
